NYT: The Biggest Misconception About Today’s College Students

The New York Times had an opinion piece by Gail O. Mellow, President of LaGuardia Community College, on Monday that dealt with the reality of higher education and misconceptions about typical college students.

The overall focus of the piece is the need for more funding in higher education, especially for community colleges. ¬†Mellow begins, “You might think the typical college student lives in a state of bliss, spending each day moving among classes, parties and extracurricular activities.
